ABSTRACT
This urban regeneration project is located along the walled edge of the city of Piacenza, in particular straddling the northern fragment of the fortified heritage. The objective around which the works of this thesis revolve is to systematize a chain of residual spaces between the city consolidated within the walls and the historical building itself, thus defining a system of open space built in able to re-inhabit this interval and come to include it in a wider system of relations (inside the wall, towards the city and beyond it, towards the Po river). The precondition for this operation consists in a reading of the urban landscape understood as a palimpsest (result of stratified generative and identity processes) conducted through the instrument of the sequence: the temporal one that highlights the overlapping of morphological-structural traces and the spatial one, vehicle of a perceptive experience applied to the complexity of hidden relationships in this indeterminate landscape. Starting with the redefinition of the system of horizontal and vertical connections along the fortification, the design perspective gradually descends in scale and involves the redevelopment of the former ACNA industrial area, located close to the internal circuit of the walls.
