ABSTRACT
This project aims to redevelop a sequence of areas close to the river Po, in the stretch nearby Piacenza between its confluence with the Trebbia and the military harbour of Genio Pontieri. In this context, the relationship between city and river is interrupted by the stratification over time of defensive infrastructure, roads and railways. The project therefore aims to define new spaces of relationship with the river by establishing in the landscape - both natural and anthropic - a system of places in time. The planned space and functional program involves some actors that, in different ways, can contribute to the protection and enhancement of the river landscape, in order to design a cultural and recreational center open to the city of Piacenza. Different and complementary views contribute to the design, articulated around an ecomuseum for research and education, a biolake for the recovery of the fluvial bathing tradition and an extensive botanical garden aimed at safeguarding biodiversity and promoting a widespread knowledge of the values deposited in different river environments.
